New LSD/Clutch/Flywheel Combo

If you own a 2003-2004 Evo, a must-have mod is the RS Limited-Slip for the front.

DAMN.

I took the car to the Porsche Club Autocross in Hartford to see what it would do in comparison to the open differential, and there is no question in my mind that it was the most worthwhile modification, and a must have before going for power-adders.

The ACT Clutch works great so far, and the Prolite flywheel really makes bliping the throttle much easier. There is some pedal vibration on cold start, but it goes away quickly, so I'm not too worried about it. The clutch grabs much harder than stock!

FCSCC Rookie Champion

I have done it! 2007 Rookie-Stock Champ!!

Now I get to pretend I'm all cool and wear a jacket with my name on it that says I'm a member of the FCSCC Elites!! Oh wait, its a 'rookie' jacket. Next year, its the BSP jacket... muhahahaha

Seriously, thanks to PSG's owners for getting me hooked in a hobby I've always wanted to be a part of.

And thanks to Matt's Mom.

Gus is the Man.

So PSGEVO is out of town. In fact, he's out of the state, on the other side of the country. Since my Evo will no longer be 'A-Stock' legal due to the LSD and flywheel, rear bar, and stainless lines, Gus has generously offered the use of his own Evo for the Runoff event at FCSCC.

I can't express how grateful I am for this Gus!!! Now I gotta make sure I win the jacket..

I Totally Jinxed Myself

I jinxed myself. The clutch lasted me 7k miles after i bought it (for a total of 48k miles). But I gotta say it just might have been a blessing.. Now I have an excuse to install the LSD :D

Evo 4 Life.

Finally. My own Evo. Albeit it lacks a front limited-slip differential (which I already ordered and is en route), it runs fast in the turns. At Fairfield, it performed flawlessly. At NJ SCCA's EVO vs. WRX day, it did great with 2 drivers on a near 100 degree day with 15 total competition runs. I am waiting for something to break, though I am extremely paranoid. I hope the stock clutch lasts me the rest of the season.

One person who beat me good in Fairfield and at the EVO vs. WRX day was Chris Carris. I'm making it my personal goal to crush Chris Carris. He's a wicked nice guy, always friendly, and is an incredible driver. But I'm going to crush him. Somehow. Someday. He is now my new benchmark. Maybe its time to practice new techniques (lots of run-on sentences here - but this is me thinking aloud as I type). I saw in some of Stan's pictures how unloaded my rear suspension gets in a hard-brake. I think this paired with left-foot braking and quick steering response time should be my ticket to fight with the big dogs. The day I beat Carris is the day I lay down the dough to compete at nationals.

On a side note, it seems that in selling my Camaros I also sold my ability to launch a car on VHT coated drag-strips. I raced Matt's STi at the 1/4 mile and did so terrible - 2.18 60ft time in a freakin' AWD car. I managed a 2.12 60ft time in a RWD Camaro with Sumitomo street tires. Oh well. My hat is tipped to Matt for passing me down the straights. When I get a new clutch, I'm going to head over to Lebanon Valley for a test & tune night to see if I can nail a 1.8-ish 60ft mark, which should land me in the mid-13s.

I Managed to Beat the White Vette!

1st day out with the new Evo. I wish the 2003's came with a front LSD, because that would be real nice. Otherwise, however, the car did freakin' great! I was always at least 1 second or more behind Joesph Solury, CART's AS Point leader (leads by a LOT). It seems that my Evo gave me the edge, and just enough of an edge, because I won by .049 seconds. Yup, less than 5 hundredths of a second. He wasn't pleased with me, but he's a real nice guy and offers well placed criticism and advice to us rookes.

It looks like i'll move into BSP pretty quickly so I can add the front LSD, that'll happen for next season. That means I'll need to put together a parts list so I just don't waltz into BSP with only a front LSD.

Overall, I placed 2nd yesterday at CART - Tom Mak kicked my butt, but as Kyle told me, there is no shame in losing to Tom. This whole season I only beat Tom once, and that was in Gus's Evo IX at Fairfield. I hope he shows up this Saturday so I can see if I can get him there!
